Here's my once a year appearance on dA again haha

I think this is pretty much a dead account at this point and I don't think I really have many active followers here anymore - but if anyone is still around, I'm active on instagram as Ruby.Petal if anyone has an account and wants to follow me there https://www.instagram.com/ruby.petal/

I'm very much a traditional artist now, with alcohol markers and pencils as my main tools!! The fun of these hasn't worn off after over a year and I'm having a lot of fun experimenting with different techniques and working more on my style in this media !!

In terms of life updates, LOOOL life has thrown a massive curveball at me this year and I found myself at my absolute lowest that I have ever been in my entire life and it was honestly one of the hardest things I have ever experienced in my life. I hope that no one ever has to experience this ever, but also I have become a much stronger person as a result.

I think I've gone back to myself now, for real. I believe I lost who I was at some point over the years and I hadn't fully realised this until now. But anyway, I am living in the present, a much happier and much more confident person than who I was a few months ago! Work with what you have, change your perspective, live in the present, be present !!

I should probably stop rambling on deaf ears haha but ultimately, i'm doing good guys !! promise! art is still a huge part of my life but i just feel like dA isn't the place for this as much as it maybe used to be, and for now, i'm very settled on using instagram and riding that wave :)

Thought I'd write an update since it's been a while !

So for starters, I don't really use dA as much anymore and I'm pretty much more active on instagram https://www.instagram.com/ruby.petal/ so if you have an account, please follow me there as I update multiple times a week and give WIPs and stuff too 😊

Other than that, I'm really happy to have found my passion for art again this year and really focus on improving and doing what I love !! Work is super busy still but what I love is that I can now actually leave work at work and fully relax now that I've finished education and no longer have to do oncall shifts. It's honestly one of the best things that has happened in this crazy year we're having!!

Going on from that, does anyone want to do any art trades? My part will pretty much be traditional art and will likely be using alcohol markers as I'm still pretty obsessed with them and it's all I really wanna work with right now! (altho i still absolutely love digital art and pixels, I just wanna explore the world of traditional a bit more right now !)

If you're interested, link me to the character you'd like me to draw, and the kind of art your part would be like as well !! I am hoping to be super inspired by your characters and wanna draw them !! (I'm sure you already know, but animal characters plzzzz 🐾🦊🐻🐨🐇 and that includes anthro as sometimes i like a challenge! )

Hi guys! I figured I would give an actual update of the last few months since I really am back and am drawing a lot more!

So to start with, I've been pretty distant from here for a long time mainly because I have been doing post-grad courses along with full time working and it was just really exhausting and i didn't really get a lot of free time to draw/i didn't really feel like drawing

but as per my previous journals, i finished one post-grad course back last year and have officially passed the second course this year! its such a relief to finally be done with education!! like i can actually just, go to work and then come home and actually not feel guilty for not doing any work coz theres actually none to do!!

so yea it feels pretty great hahaha

on top of that, i finished my last oncall shift last month and i never have to be oncall ever again!! (for those who don't know, i work as a hospital pharmacist)

so yea i have even more freedom!! so plenty more time to get some art done!!

going on from that, due to the covid-19 situation, work got a little crazy in march/april and i ended up being re-trained into being an intensive care pharmacist due to the huge number of critically ill patients we were having at the beginning of covid - luckily, things have gotten a lot better and we're well prepared should we hit another wave of ill patients

Working in a hospital put me at higher chances of getting the virus myself, and that's what happened lol i was ill towards the end of march/april and spent time at home feeling sorry for my feverish self hahaha unfortunately swab testing wasn't properly in place at the time so i didn't actually manage to get swabbed to see if i had covid. But last week, our hospital finally got the antibody tests and I had a blood test that confirmed that I have covid antibodies

so yea i am actually so so glad to finally know that covid really was what i went down with! i would have been hella scared if i didn't have them coz then it would be like whoa what on earth was i hit with!

but anyway it is all good, i am well and relaxed and doing things like yoga and drawing in the sun and am enjoying it i really wanna get back into other things as well but one thing at a time i think hahaha i am just glad that drawing still gives me so much joy ;;

the other thing i really really miss is going on holidayyyyy

i was going to go away in march to see my other half, had everything booked and was so ready to go but then covid hit and it was announced a week before my trip that international flights into the country were now banned so yea that was really upsetting at the time

but its okay, we'll just see what happens !

the other thing i really miss is being able to go back home to visit my parents ;; hopefully when things ease up a bit later in the year, i'll be able to go home and see them (socially distanced of course hahaha)

i think thats everything for now! the main stuff anyway! i'm gunna draw more trad stuff so keep an eye out!

Hi guys, what happened here !!

I came back as I have finally finished my 6 month post-grad course and I've actually been drawing again and wanted to start things up again here but everything is so different and I can't use the old format anymore?

I honestly don't know if I can get used to this new site which is really sad because I was looking forward to getting back here and finally being active again

Does anyone have any other art site recommendations? Are you guys going elsewhere due to this change??

I'm so sad that this is all different now wahhhhh

I've been working on some trad art (I've not done trad in such a long time, I missed it!) so I'll probably upload those here at some point (once I figure out how to ahhhh)
